In Nigeria, it is popularly called Indomie(Trademark name). It is a popular among students and bachelors. It is high in sodium and carbohydrate. It is low in minerals and vitamins. It has artificial dyes, preservatives and flavour enhancers. It is not totally dangerous but should be consumed in moderation. Much sodium can cause heart diseases, stroke and kidney problems
Potato Chips
This food contains high level of sodium and fat. Excessive temperature used in preparation results in production of carcinogens hence they can cause cancer in long term
Soft Drinks
Many of parents are probably guilty of giving their children soft drinks daily. Soft drinks increase the risk of heart diseases, type 2 diabetes and obesity According to a research by Harvard School of Public Health, daily consumption of soda increase our chances of developing heart diseases by 20%. When you consider such high percentage, you can do yourself good by drinking fresh natural juices.
Margarine
Is margarine an alternative to butter? No. When you consider the amount of trans fat in margarine, it is high and therefore unhealthy. It could lead to increase of bad cholesterol that causes heart diseases and stroke.
Canned Tomatoes
This might be so hard to stop consuming! How many of us can cook our food without using canned tomatoes? There are so much reason to start trying things the natural way. Canned tomatoes have a chemical bisphenol-A in its lining. Due to acidity of tomatoes, this chemical bisphenol-A accumulate in the tomatoees itself leading to health concerns
Using the Same Cooking Oil many times
There is strong debate to this. From the economic point of view, it is impracticable to change cooking oil always. But try to observe your cooking oil. When it becomes dark and greasy, you have to replace it. Some experts suggest that stored oils are prone to microbial contamination and production of free radicals that may be carcinogenic
The bottom line is that we should eat in moderation. Less frequent consumption of some food can help in reducing the risks involved. Always explore the natural aspects by eating natural and fresh food.
